Ideally, I want a Viking ship burial, but those are frowned on these days. Absent setting me on fire and floating me out to sea majestically, I want the least environmentally impactful thing done. Cremation is actually pretty energy intensive. Simple pine-box burial, perhaps, or used as mulch for a tree would do. If socially acceptable by then, go ahead and compost me. Sure.

there was an article about this (what to do with the corpse/alternatives to cremation or burial) in The Guardian recently - it was really interesting.

Yes, there's several new options these days. Any of them that encourages reclamation of useful material or decomposition and return to the earth would be fine. I just don't want to hang around in a lead-lined cement vault pumped full of chemicals and refusing to decompose, you know?

found it! http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/sep/20/burial-cemeteries-dead?INTCMP=SRCH

and yeah i'm not hugely fond of burial or cremation - but ending up as sterile water kindof appeals :)

Recycle what's still useful, burn the rest, convert the ashes to a diamond.

Med students. Then mulch. If a theatre department wants my skull, I'll gladly play Yoric for a few decades.
