tisiphone: (random bookworm)
So, here's the way it is. When I moved in here I had 35 boxes of books just for me. Since then I've gained a total of over 300 books, and it's really getting out of hand. I don't have room for them all and I've got tons I'll never read again, that are duplicates, or that just are no longer necessary (or, in the interests of full disclosure, that I hated.) So I've decided to sell some of them off before school starts and I don't have time to deal with the mail. I've got technical books (especially Oracle and SQL, but also some other programming languages and crypto), classics of all genres and eras, and a metric buttload of science fiction, fantasy, mystery and general fiction, among others. This includes complete or near-complete collections of some series of Thomas Harlan, Glen Cook, and Piers Anthony, as well as a few more complete series and a hell of a lot of Laura K. Hamilton. I'm not going to cut and paste, since the list is quite long.

Steps

1. Go to my Librarything for sale tag and check out what's there.
2. See if there's anything you want, and if so comment here. I'll verify that I have it and check shipping prices for you.
3. All books except technical books are $2 each or 6/$10. Technical books are priced at $5 (beat-up or old) and $10 (still relevant).
4. I ship books, you paypal money! Easy!

* Note that these will all be OK reading copies, but some are definitely in better shape than others. Some of them do have my name or the names of others in them, as a lot of them were used when I bought them. If something isn't in reading condition I won't send it to you! If you want to know the condition of a given book up front, ask and I'll find it and check. I view "reading condition" to be cover intact, no significant water damage, and no pages falling out, though if there are problems other than that I might also yank them out. A lot of these have been living in boxes for a while.
* These are a mixture of hardcover and paperback.
* If you live in the UK I might be able to arrange something for cheaper shipping. Give me a shout and we'll see.
* After a month these are going up on Amazon. A month after that they're going to the thrift store :)

(Edit: p.s. Due to lurker support from email, I'm unlocking this post; if you see something someone else may like, feel free to point them at it.)

Can I get amo, amas, amat and all your cook?

Date: 2008-08-15 07:15 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] tisiphone.livejournal.com
All the cookbooks? Sure, though I think I've only got a few listed. (Be warned that I actually cook with my cookbooks, so I'm not guaranteeing no chocolate stains :) I'm going to go through the cookbooks anonce and see if there are any that can go, they're also multiplying to a stupid extent.

My bad, I meant all the Glen Cook. Pardon my lazy capitalization. That said, I only saw the south-beach cookbooks on my first go through, but if you have anything that is neither south beach nor only meat and wine, I'd also love them. I've come to a place in my life where I'm admitting that I've started collecting cookbooks.

Oh right! I totally forgot about the Glen Cook, even though he's featured in the writeup, doh! Only two stand out, "Sallets, humbles and Shrewsbery cakes", which is a medieval cookbook which has some nice recipes but is light on documentation and of somewhat dodgy provenance, and "Sara's secrets for weeknight meals", an actually fairly reasonable cookbook by Sara Moulton that I just never use.

Both cookbooks would be awesome.

I see someone else tagged the Latin book first, which is fine, because it brings me to a tidy 5 books. :)

Embarassingly, I think I have 3 copies of that book! Let me take a look and see if I've got a spare.

Lucid dreaming for me please? Also maths for the non mathematician, and you could throw in three more paperbacks from the fantasy genre if you like? :)

And heh at some of your books. I cringed just from the thumbnail of Lord Foul. I have no idea how I made it through all six, the joys of being 14 and indiscriminate...
